Create & Cultivate Day Out: Gather and Grow Freedom Day Market

There is something incredibly powerful about moving from learning in a room to applying those lessons in real life. For our Create & Cultivate Cohort, the Gather and Grow Freedom Day Market hosted by the BBM Community Markets Group marked more than just an outing — it marked a meaningful milestone in their entrepreneurship journey.

For the participants, this was their very first experience being part of a live market environment. After spending time learning about entrepreneurship concepts, business development, creativity, branding, confidence, and community impact, they finally had the opportunity to step into a real-world setting where those lessons could begin to come alive.

The atmosphere at the Gather and Grow Freedom Day Market was filled with warmth, connection, creativity, and community spirit. Families walked through the market spaces, entrepreneurs showcased their products and services, conversations flowed naturally, and there was a beautiful sense of togetherness throughout the day. Within that environment, our cohort members were able to observe, interact, learn, and participate in ways that extended far beyond theory.

One of the most impactful parts of the outing was exposure. Sometimes new entrepreneurs and developing business owners only need to see what is possible in order to begin believing that they, too, can build something meaningful. Seeing vendors confidently present their products, engage customers, tell their stories, and create business opportunities helped our cohort members understand that entrepreneurship is not just an abstract idea — it is something tangible, practical, and accessible.

The outing also highlighted the importance of visibility and community in business growth. Participants witnessed firsthand how markets and community spaces create opportunities for businesses to connect with people, build relationships, increase awareness, and grow their customer base. They saw that successful entrepreneurship is not only about having a product or service, but also about communication, confidence, consistency, and learning how to engage with people authentically.

Beyond business lessons, the day created opportunities for personal growth. Some participants stepped outside of their comfort zones by interacting with new people, asking questions, networking, and observing how different entrepreneurs operate. Moments like these help build confidence, communication skills, and a broader perspective of what growth can look like.

What made the experience especially meaningful was the spirit of community surrounding the market. The Gather and Grow Freedom Day Market was not simply a commercial space — it was a place where people gathered, connected, celebrated creativity, and supported one another. This aligned beautifully with the heart of the Create & Cultivate program, which believes that entrepreneurship should not only create income, but also foster collaboration, empowerment, and community transformation.

The outing also served as a reminder that growth often happens through exposure and experience. Learning in workshops and mentorship sessions is valuable, but there is something transformative about physically entering spaces where ideas, opportunities, and entrepreneurship are actively taking place. These environments help participants begin to envision larger possibilities for themselves and their futures.

As a program, Create & Cultivate is passionate about helping individuals move from potential to practical application. We want participants to not only dream, but also develop the confidence, mindset, and skills needed to pursue those dreams intentionally. Experiences like the Gather and Grow Freedom Day Market are an important part of that journey because they bridge the gap between learning and implementation.

This first outing was a beautiful beginning, and we are excited about the continued growth, exposure, and opportunities ahead for our cohort members. Watching participants engage, observe, ask questions, and begin imagining what their own entrepreneurial journeys could become was both inspiring and encouraging.

The Gather and Grow Freedom Day Market reminded us that when people are given opportunities, exposure, encouragement, and supportive environments, growth begins to unfold naturally. Sometimes all it takes is one experience, one conversation, or one moment of inspiration to unlock confidence and possibility.

We are proud of our Create & Cultivate Cohort for taking this important step and look forward to seeing how they continue to grow, create, and cultivate purpose-driven futures.
